Mac App Store : A Pirates Grab Bag

Oh Apple! Many people (including myself) have dreaded the day the App Store hit the Mac OS, as it signaled the potential beginning of the end of the the Mac operating system as we know it. Steve Jobs and the classy folk over there at Apple have done a wonderful job suckling the money of the masses by creating  virtual stores with the app store and itunes, so it was just a matter of time until it landed in our beloved OSX. Since the opening of the Mac app store, the library of applications seems to have grown, … Continue reading

Snow Day in Huntington Village, NY

I find myself leaving my Canon 7D unused for somehwat long periods of time. This is disappointing, because photo and video is really something I love doing. The day after christmas, I decided to take it outside in the Long Island New York blizzard.  I’m sure most people dont care, they have plenty of snow outside their own window. But, maybe someone out there from huntington is homesick, and would like to take a little tour through their old town covered in snow. Maybe I just made that up in my head.  Here is a short video I made of … Continue reading

Goodbye Wisdom Tooth

I’m sure the people who stumble across this post are symptom-searching for wisdom tooth stories – either what to expect, or looking for someone who’s been through the same. If you are looking for a soft voice to tell you “it was nothing, don’t worry!”, perhaps it would be in your best interest to look elsewhere. Everyone I have spoken to has had different experiences with wisdom teeth. From it being a 5 minute light painless yank, to ‘it was the worst day of my life”. I have now had 3 different wisdom teeth out, and 2 out … Continue reading

If I could play blues guitar..

I would then learn blues piano. If I could clone my cat Lenny, I would defy nature and do so. If I could cure baldness, I would put hat stores out of business. If I had even more  photography equipment, there would just be more surface area on the shelf collecting dust (unfortunately). If I never learned how to fix the broken (and only) computers I got as a kid, I would have been unemployed for the past 10 years. If it wasn’t for ginger ale, my night would have been taken over by bathroom visits. If I … Continue reading

Welcome Back, Cold Weather Cold & Rash

Every year I am rashy. Fact. Not the unsightly kind of rashy, just dry skin rashy.. which i guess could seem gross if you don’t have it. For those who do, I want to share what has proven to be my final solution. Just to preface, I am in no way affiliated with any product of whom I sing the praises of. I have had this annoyance as far back as I can remember being a kid. The other annoyance goes without saying, the winter cold. With that said, this is my post recommending two particular products, the … Continue reading

Pancakes : Ambien for the Uninsured

I have been on a serious pancake run. 3 days in a row, in fact. Pancakes are in my top 5 favorite foods, no doubt about it.. I am particularly partial to banana pancakes with about a half stick of butter. mmm.. This poses a problem, as all vices do.. Pancakes have a way of killing a day.. Not to say I lay down, out for the count – at least not always.. but it is hard to keep a high energy level when my body is saturated with the buttery/bready/syruppy griddled goodness. I think it is time … Continue reading

Hooraytheism!

“Protecting Russian religiosity is too a matter of national security” Back in 2007, two popular art curators, Andrei Yerofeyev and Yuri Samodurov, held an exhibit called Forbidden Art. The pieces depicted what some might consider offensive material. Most notable are those that include America’s favorite crutch- Mr Christ himself – being shown mostly in tandem with corporate symbols. They have since been put on trial for “inciting national and religious hatred”. I learned this through my most recent project I signed onto – creating a site for someone who wants to lead the movement to protest this. It … Continue reading

Improve your life through Starcraft 2

Nerds rejoiced last month when Starcraft 2 hit stores. I admit I was also excited, having been a fan of all of the Warcraft titles since being a closeted video game nerd in middle school. I have spent more hours than I would like to admit playing it already… When Starcraft 2 first came out I was playing so much that I would think about it while eating, showering, working etc… I found that I learned  about my tendencies as a human through the way I played when faced with different situations.. Some of the things I noticed … Continue reading

Discouragement vs The Freelancer

Letting small things discourage you is too easy, especially when you work for yourself. You make or break your business – every decision you make affects your path both as an individual and professional. All it takes is a few days of bad weather until discouragement settles in. A feeling of defeat is a necessary and sometimes helpful evil – especially when it comes to your profession. The most important thing to remember when the dejection monster rears it’s head – use it. Let it light the fire under your once comfortable ass, because becoming too comfortable could … Continue reading
